Summary

In accordance with our Mission of securing, protecting and improving Catholic Education across the Archdiocese of Birmingham, the Diocesan Education Service has continued to reflect on and support organisational structures which protect our schools for the future. There are currently 17 Multi-Academy Companies (MACs) in operation, consisting in total of 93 Academies.

The current position of the Archdiocese is that we will continue to support all our schools, whether they are in a MAC or not. In light of recent Government announcements on academies, we will continue to review our policy and directives in order to be in the best position to strategically protect and support all of our schools. The Catholic Education Service (CES) is currently considering a public statement on academies and we will be working closely with the CES to align our support accordingly.
