2025: Pilgrims of Hope

Archbishop Bernard has set three challenges to all schools in the Archdiocese during this very special year: prayer, social action and fundraising. We look forward to this sacred time being a period of renewal, reflection and hope.

I am delighted to welcome you to the Diocesan Education Service website.  On these pages you will find useful information about the work of the team and the multi-academy companies and schools of the Diocese. The vision for the Archdiocese of Birmingham reminds us that ‘we are called to be a Catholic diocese which is: faithful to the mission entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, full of missionary disciples who work together co-responsibly in vibrant communities of faith, joyful in their service of God and neighbour.’

Young people and families are placed at the heart of our diocesan vision and, as such, our schools play a significant role in the fulfilment of it, building even closer relationships and co-responsibility between parish, school and home. The formation of pupils, parents and staff lie at the centre of all that we do. The provision of Catholic education is one of the most important strands of the mission of the Church in the Archdiocese of Birmingham and the Diocesan Education Service is responsible for communicating with all partners tasked with delivering the very best Catholic education for over 83,000 pupils and students.

We offer advice and direction on a broad range of educational matters such as, Religious Education and curriculum issues, Catholic Life of a school, staffing and recruitment, governance, admissions and capital and academy developments. To do this, the team work closely with parishes, schools, multi-academy companies, Local Authorities, the Catholic Education Service, the Department for Education and many other professional bodies.

Quite simply, our schools exist so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed to future generations.

If you are interested in working in one of our schools, we would love to hear from you!  Please contact the team here at Don Bosco House (see the 'Contact Us' page).  We are proud to offer wonderful careers in our family of schools.
