Thank you for your interest in applying for a foundation governor position in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Before you start, please read and note the following: If you are a relative of a current employee or another governor at the school you wish to apply to, you would not typically be eligible for appointment as a foundation governor. Relatives include - husband/wife, father/mother or father/mother-in-law, sister/brother or sister/brother-in-law, son/daughter, or son/daughter-in-law.
If you are related in any of the above ways to an employee or another governor at the school you wish to apply to, please email Rebecca Tonks, [email protected], with details so that this can be considered before continuing to submit an application.
To complete this application you will be asked to provide the following information, so please ensure that you have this available before you continue:
The email address of your parish priest who can verify that you are a practising Catholic, ie the priest of the church where you attend Mass. Priest’s details can be found on the Archdiocesan website: Find a Priest or Deacon Please ensure that you have spoken to your priest before proceeding with your application so that he is aware that he will be contacted to verify that you are a practising Catholic.
The email address of the person in the school to which you are applying who can verify that you have a current DBS certificate for the role of governor at the school. If you do not yet hold a DBS certificate for the role of governor at the school, please contact the school to establish the application process for this as you will need to obtain one before submitting an application. The school will be able to advise of the email address of the person who will be able to verify your DBS once it is in place.
